The Shakta tradition is one of the six formal traditions of worship established by Adi Sankara. The three formal forms of the feminine energy (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) are Sarasvati, Lakshmi, and Durga.
The program will comprise the participative chanting of:
Sri Suktam
Durga Suktam
Sarasvati mantra (krama, jata, ghana)
Lakshmi kavacham

About Ravi and Sheela


Ravi Shankar has been on the path of Yoga for more than 30 years. He is a student of T.K.V. Desikachar and has spent a number of years working under him and continues to teach in the same tradition.
He has completed the intensive 2-year teacher training Diploma in Yoga at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram. The learning he cherishes most is the years he spent working in association with T.K.V. Desikachar on the KYM yoga journal Darsanam.
He was the Scholar-in-Residence (2008-09), Denison University, Granville, Ohio.
Together with Sheela he was one of the plenary speakers at the Association of Yoga Studies Convention, UK in 2019.

Sheela Shankar is also a student of T.K.V. Desikachar and has undergone the 2-year teacher training Diploma in Yoga at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram. She was one of T.K.V. Desikachar’s foremost teachers of Vedic Chanting. She is also a trained classical singer in both the Carnatic and the Hindustani tradition.
She was the keynote speaker at the Association of Yoga Studies Convention, UK in 2019, together with Ravi Shankar.
She runs a Vedic Chanting Certificate program in three levels together with Sadhanamala, UK.
